7 Best Cross-Border Payout Platforms for Business (2026)

Quick answer: The right payout platform depends on who you pay and where. For a finance team paying suppliers from a dashboard, Wise Business and Airwallex publish real pricing and work today. For marketplaces paying sellers in emerging markets, dLocal specializes in exactly that. For enterprise-scale infrastructure, Nium is built for licensed institutions. For stablecoin-settled payouts over an API, Bridge (now part of Stripe) and Avvio are the two builder-friendly options, and Avvio is the one you can start with as a normal business: a self-custodial multi-currency account with SWIFT, savings, and payouts to 60+ currencies across 150+ countries, settling in seconds, from a dashboard or an API.

One thing you should know about this category before reading anyone’s list, including ours: almost every “best payout platforms” article is written by a payout vendor, and every one of them ranks itself first. We build one of these products too. So instead of a rigged ranking, here is what each platform is actually for, what it publishes about pricing (with dates), and the weakness reviewers most often report. Then you can rank them for your own case.

Looking specifically at Wise Business? Wise Business alternatives goes deeper on that one comparison.

1. Wise Business, best for transparent pricing

Wise is the only platform on this list with fully public, live pricing: sending from 0.23% depending on currency, a one-time $31 setup fee for local account details in 22 currencies, and published receiving fees (their pricing page, August 2026). Coverage is 160+ countries and 40+ currencies, and their API is free to use with a business account.

The catch: Wise Business is a custodial account, and its most common review complaint is account deactivation with funds held and little explanation. Wise’s stated policy isn’t to share deactivation reasons. If your payroll runs through it, that’s a real operational risk. We wrote about what happens when Wise deactivates an account and the alternatives people move to.

2. Airwallex, best all-in-one business account

Airwallex bundles global accounts, cards, and payouts to a claimed 200+ countries in 60+ currencies, with a local-rails network that avoids SWIFT on many routes. US pricing is published: 0.5% FX above interbank for major currencies, 1% for the rest, and $15 to $25 for SWIFT transfers (their pricing page, August 2026), though the embedded/platform API pricing is sales-gated. Trustpilot has them at 2.9/5, mostly funds held without explanation and sudden freezes.

3. Payoneer, best-known for marketplace payouts

Payoneer’s mass-payout product handles payee onboarding, KYC, and support in its enterprise tier, and marketplaces like it for exactly that. Before you commit, check the pricing: payer-side mass-payout rates aren’t published, you find out in sales. Your recipients also inherit Payoneer’s payee-side fees, including up to 2% FX on withdrawal to their own bank and a $29.95 annual inactivity fee, and its reviews are dominated by account freezes on the receiving side. Your contractors’ experience is part of your product. Our Payoneer alternatives guide covers the recipient side in detail.

4. dLocal, best for emerging-markets scale

dLocal is a payouts specialist for 60+ emerging markets with 1,000+ local payment methods (Pix, UPI, mobile money, wallets) and claims up to 99.8% delivery success. If you pay thousands of drivers or sellers across Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia, it belongs on your shortlist. Pricing isn’t published and is negotiated per client. Review scores are rough (1.1/5 on Trustpilot, though that mixes end users with merchants), with onboarding opacity the recurring merchant complaint.

5. Nium, best for banks and licensed platforms

Nium is infrastructure: payouts to a claimed 190+ countries with 100+ real-time corridors, aimed at banks, payroll providers, and large platforms. It is API-first, can piggyback on existing SWIFT connectivity, and isn’t self-serve. Pricing isn’t published; fee plans are configured per client. If you’re a bank or a platform moving serious volume, talk to them. If you want to send money this week, skip it.

6. Bridge (Stripe), stablecoin infrastructure for developers

Bridge powers stablecoin movement behind fintechs, now under Stripe. The API covers virtual accounts and stablecoin orchestration, and it’s solid. Pricing was public before the acquisition and is now sales-gated. The docs also list real geographic holes: no customers in New York, no China or Japan, and 21 prohibited jurisdictions. Stripe’s own stablecoin payout product, meanwhile, is still a US-only private preview limited to individual recipients. Check your countries against that list before you build.

7. Avvio, the multi-currency business account that never holds your money

Avvio is ours, so read this section knowing that. Here’s what you get:

  • Your money stays yours. Avvio is self-custodial. Your business holds the keys to its own account, so we can’t freeze it, hold it, or block a withdrawal, and we never will. Every other platform on this list keeps your balance on its books and decides when you can move it.
  • A real multi-currency account. Hold, receive, and send in 60+ currencies, with local account details for getting paid and SWIFT for anywhere a local rail doesn’t reach.
  • Payouts to 150+ countries in seconds. Stablecoin settlement underneath, local-currency delivery on top (Pix, SPEI, UPI, SEPA, Faster Payments, and other domestic systems). 24/7, no cut-off times, no correspondent banks taking a slice on the way. How it works: stablecoin payouts, explained.
  • Idle balances earn. Savings on your operating balance at up to 7% APY, withdrawable whenever you need it.
  • No enterprise gate. Sign up like a normal business: no volume minimums, no sales call, no six-month onboarding. Every payout shows the rate, the fee, and exactly what the recipient gets before you commit, so you never send blind.
  • Dashboard and API from day one: finance teams use the dashboard; product teams use the REST API, the zero-dependency @avvio/payments Node SDK, the CLI, or the built-in MCP server for agent-driven workflows. Scoped API keys, idempotency keys, webhooks, and a sandbox that rehearses failure states, not just the happy path. Docs: docs.avvio.xyz.
  • Invoices and payment links for the receivable side, where receiving an invoice payment is free.

Avvio is a financial technology company; payment services are provided by licensed partners.

How to choose

  1. Who holds the funds, and what freezes? The single most common complaint across this category is funds held without explanation. Ask every vendor what happens to in-flight payouts during a compliance review. Or pick the one platform where the question doesn’t apply: with a self-custodial account you hold the keys, and nobody can block your funds.
  2. What does the recipient get? Sender-side fees are half the story. Recipient-side FX markups and withdrawal fees quietly cost your payees 1% to 2% more.
  3. Is pricing knowable before sales? Two platforms on this list publish pricing. If a vendor’s answer is “it depends,” get it in writing per corridor.
  4. Do your corridors settle in seconds or days? Local rails and stablecoin settlement run 24/7. SWIFT routes can take days and shed intermediary fees en route.
  5. Dashboard, API, or both? Your finance team wants the dashboard and your product team wants the API. Get both.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest cross-border payout platform? There is no universal answer because most vendors don’t publish pricing and costs vary by corridor. Compare full-path quotes (your fee + FX + recipient-side costs) on your actual corridors. Wise and Airwallex publish rates; for everyone else, ask per corridor and get it in writing.

What is a mass payout API? An API that sends one or thousands of payouts programmatically: create a quote, submit the payout, track status by webhook. Look for idempotency keys (so retries never double-pay), scoped API keys, and a sandbox with failure states.

Are stablecoin payout platforms safe for business use? Through licensed providers, yes. The US GENIUS Act and EU MiCA now define licensed stablecoin operations, and the same sanctions and AML screening applies. Your recipients see local currency, not the rail underneath.

Do I still handle tax forms with a payout platform? Yes. W-8BEN collection for foreign contractors and 1099 rules for US persons stay your responsibility on every platform, though some (like Payoneer’s enterprise tier and the contractor-of-record products) manage collection for you. Our international contractor payments guide covers the basics.

Can I start small, or do these platforms have minimums? Several are gated: Nium and Thunes are membership onboarding for institutions, BVNK asks for $500k+/month, Bridge is sales-led. Wise, Airwallex, Payoneer, and Avvio let a normal business start without a volume commitment.
